I have been married for over thirty years to my wonderful wife, Pam. Yes, I do feel like I married up, as she is a constant inspiration to me. We have two boys; both beginning their own families. We are a close, active family from parents to in-laws to grandchildren. Life is busy and full in the Kappler household.
Having been born and raised in the Midwest, I received my architectural degree from Kansas State University in 1983. I participated in an exchange program and studied while living in Copenhagen, Denmark. I was able to extensively travel Europe. What a wonderful experience learning and seeing the roots of architecture.
My love for residential architecture comes from my interest in sharing dreams with people and nowhere is that better exemplified than in building a home. I am very proud to say that since my companies founding in 1987, we have been involved with creating homes for more than thirty thousand families. I have been a member of the Master Builders of King and Snohomish County for over thirty years. I have chaired the education committee, promoting better design and construction. I have taught in the Construction Management program at Edmonds Community College, and sat on the advisory board for Lake Washington Technical College. I am an elected official in the City of Kirkland and am currently the Vice Chair of the Houghton Community Council having purview over land use regulations. Now and then, I also develop property and build homes. This diversification has led to a better understanding of the demands placed on architects, builders and homeowners today.
